Better Breathing Hawke’s Bay Pulmonary and Heart Failure Rehabilitation

Better Breathing Hawke’s Bay provides a free, community-based service for people who have breathing difficulties caused by chronic lung disease or heart failure. The service is provided by a multidisciplinary team of health care and allied health care professionals.

What does the programme involve?

One hour of education and one hour of supervised exercises twice a week for 8 weeks.

We help you to develop skills to manage your breathlessness and your health condition. You will receive input from Health Care Professionals from many different areas who can provide help with an exercise plan and provide you with the information you need to make the choices for your health care.

There are courses run in Hastings, Napier, Wairoa and Waipukurau. There is also a home-based option or online using Zoom.

How do I join?

Your health care provider can make a referral to our team.  After you've been referred, a team member will meet with you and your whānau for an individual assessment to discuss the programme and how it could help you.
