Tame Your Taniwha

Challenge two of your mates or whānau to be smokefree – you’ve got nothing to lose except your addiction!

How to enter

To enter the challenge, teams of three must complete a Tame Your Taniwha registration form by 5 pm on Wednesday 27th September.

The challenge is open for registration on Monday 4th September and will commence on Monday 2nd October, runnign through to Thursday 30th November.

The HBDHB Smokefree team will validate all entries to the challenge by Friday 29th September.

How to win

In order to win first prize, the following must occur:

  • All team members must validate CO monitor readings of 8 ppm or more at the start of each challenge
  • All team members must validate CO monitor readings of 5 ppm or less at weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8.
  • All team members must be smokefree at the end of the challenge.

Prizes

All members of the team that wins the grand prize will EACH receive the following: Dinner, bed and breakfast for two at the Wairakei Resort, Taupo (valid for one year) AND petrol vouchers to the value of $40.00 or, alternatively, bus fares per couple.

There’s also a bunch of weekly spot prizes being drawn throughout the challenge. The spot prizes will be awarded by the Stop Smoking Practitioners. Spot prizes include Smokefree resources: toothbrushes, toothpaste, lip balm, car sunshades, umbrellas, etc.

We offer a FREE stop smoking service unlike any other as well as FREE or subsidised nicotine replacement therapy. You will be supported by our dedicated Stop Smoking Practitioners who will provide expert advice and cessation tools to support you in your journey towards becoming smokefree.
