Hawke’s Bay District Health Board - New Zealand Nurses Organisation Strike Action Update 1

Members of New Zealand Nurses Organisation are now taking strike action for 24 hours from 7am today until 7am Friday 13 July.

What you need to know

Hawke’s Bay Hospital is very busy this morning, and people with non-urgent injuries and illnesses are urged to seek medical help from a pharmacy, GP, medical and urgent care centre, or call Healthline 0800 611 116 and leave the Emergency Department for emergencies only.

More staff will be working from Hastings Health Centre, The Doctors Hastings, City Medical Napier and The Doctors Napier, today.

A full list of GPs and pharmacies and their opening hours is available from www.ourhealthhb.nz .

Maternity services remain open and labouring women should present to Maternity as normal.

People should not delay seeking medical treatment or going to hospital if the matter is urgent. They should dial 111 for emergencies or an ambulance.

Our aim is to keep everyone safe during the strike – patients and staff alike. We are very grateful to 62 volunteers, who have the appropriate skills and training to provide some additional support to our working staff today.
