April Falls - Move to Improve
April is Falls Awareness month and Hawke's Bay DHB is highlighting how easy it is to be at the risk of a fall in our normal day-to-day lives. This is the fifith year the Health Quality and Safety Commission, in association with ACC, have sponsored resources to raise awareness of the need for fall prevention in all age groups because of our love of sport, DIY and our active aging population.
As part of this we are promoting ‘Move to Improve’, to show how good balance and strength can be key to preventing falls in any age group.
Come along between 11.30am and 1.30pm to our Falls Expo on Wednesday 12th April, which will include 15 minute Tai Chi classes at:
in the Zac's Cafe courtyard (behind the Chapel).
Everyone is welcome.
We will also have the following organisation on hand with helpful information:
- St Johns
- Sport HB
- Aged Concern
- HBDHB Physio
- Peak Fitness and Health
There is a quick five question quiz where you can find out if you or someone you know is at risk of falling, click here…
We are also running a 'Design a Poster Competition' to win a 'Activity Tracker watch'. The top three posters will be printed and displayed around the hospital to remind people to ‘Move to Improve’.
